Live updates from the Bihar floor test

Live updates from the Bihar floor test reveal that the no-confidence motion against Speaker and RJD leader Awadh Bihari Choudhary has been passed by the Bihar State Assembly. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s coalition government secured victory in the trust motion with 129 votes. Following the announcement of the result, opposition leaders chose to walk out of the Assembly. As a result of a resolution supported by 125 members and opposed by 112 members, RJD leader Awadh Bihari Chaudhary has been removed from his position as speaker of the Bihar assembly. Prior to the floor test, RJD MLAs Chetan Anand, Neelam Devi, and Prahlad Yadav were seen sitting on the government’s side in the Bihar Assembly, dealing a significant blow to the Opposition. In response, former Bihar Deputy CM and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav emphasized the importance of MLAs remaining in their respective seats until the end of voting to ensure the validity of the voting process. It is worth noting that Nitish Kumar, who was previously part of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, left the alliance and took oath as the Bihar chief minister for the ninth time on January 28, this time with the support of the BJP. The NDA coalition, now strengthened by the inclusion of Hindustani Awam Morcha’s four MLAs led by former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, is preparing for the crucial floor test in the Bihar assembly amidst ongoing speculation. Meanwhile, the Congress, concerned about poaching attempts, has relocated its 19 MLAs from Telangana to 5, Deshratna Marg, the bungalow once occupied by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. On the other hand, RJD legislators, along with their Left counterparts, have gathered at Yadav’s residence, gearing up for a united show of strength as they head to the Vidhan Sabha on Monday.
